Air Conditioning > AC Tune-Ups > Air Quality and an HVAC Contractor Provided Tune Up
Your HVAC Tune-Up may impact more than just the longevity of your system. It may also impact your health.

Homeowners often wait until there is a serious problem with their home’s air conditioning system or hvac system before contacting an air conditioning contractor or an hvac contractor for AC repairs. However, there is a very good reason not to wait until you are in need of new air conditioning parts or AC repair before you contact a air conditioning contractor or an hvac contractor – your health.

The indoor air quality of your home can have an enormous effect on your family’s health and well-being. In fact, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, indoor pollutants can be the source of everything from mild heath issues such as itchy eyes and allergic reactions to more significant symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, and fatigue. In fact, poor indoor air quality caused by indoor pollutants can also be the source of more alarming illnesses affecting the lungs and exacerbating ailments such as asthma, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and humidifier fever.  Worst-case scenarios from long-term exposure to invisible indoor air pollutants include heart disease and cancer.  Given the importance of keeping indoor pollutants in your home to a minimum, it is vital to have a quality air conditioning contractor or hvac contractor perform an annual inspection your air conditioning system. Often homeowners are not aware that their air conditioning system may appear to be in working order but is not performing at maximum efficiency level because air conditioning repair is needed. This may mean a new air conditioning parts are needed, or, it may mean that the air conditioning system or hvac system needs a specialized cleaning, such as air conditioning duct cleaning. The importance of hiring a qualified air conditioning contractor to determine if you need AC repair cannot be underestimated.

The source of indoor air pollutants can be obvious such as if there is a smoker in the home – but it is important to keep in mind that many invisible indoor pollutants can also occur from building materials, home furnishings, household products such as air fresheners, cleaning products, and even the materials used for some hobby activities.  It also important to note that outdoor pollutants can make their way into your home and it is essential to be sure that your air conditioning system is running efficiently so that these pollutants do not remain trapped in your environment but rather, are filtered out. In fact, according the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, hvac contractors in particular are continually looking for ways to improve indoor air quality.  Maintaining regular communication with your hvac contractor can be a great way to ensure that your hvac system is the most up to date with regard to providing you and your family with clean pollutant free air.

There is no denying the comfort of a well-ventilated climate controlled home – however, it is key to remember that your air conditioning system or hvac system also plays a very important role in your health by providing you and your family with high quality pollutant free air. Regular inspections of your air conditioning system or your hvac system by an established air conditioning contractor or hvac contractor to ensure peak performance in your home is highly recommended.
