Find the problem before you start digging.
One of the most common—and most expensive—plumbing problems is blockage in the sewer line leading to drain back-ups, gurgling drains and other drain issues. Until fairly recently, there was no sure way of determining the cause of the problem short of expensive and destructive excavation of the pipes.
Reasons for blockage. Sewer line backups can have many causes. The line may be infested with tree roots. The pipes may have settled, been crushed, punctured or broken, or even become disjointed. Sometimes construction debris or improper installation is to blame. Some sewer lines were even made with materials that disintegrate.
Video sewer inspection can find the problem without digging. Now plumbers have a more sophisticated and less disruptive way to diagnose your sewer line problem. Using a tiny, fiber optic video camera snaked through the line, your sewer professional can conduct a complete visual line inspection, evaluate the condition of your pipes and locate the blockage. This inspection can even be recorded so you and your plumber can review the problem together and determine the best approach to your sewer line repair.
If it turns out you simply need a rooter job for a quick sewer cleaning, you might even want to conduct another inspection after the repair to make sure there are no other problems that need to be addressed further down the line.
