Deodorizer
Baking soda’s best-known household use (outside a baking pan) is its odor fighting ability. Put it in the refrigerator and freezer. Sprinkle it on carpets, upholstery, pet beds, stuffed animals and other stinky surfaces, let it sit, then vacuum it away.
Scrubbing power
Paired with water or with its fellow household hero, vinegar, baking soda works well as a surface cleaner. Use a baking soda paste on your greasy stovetop, pour a baking soda solution into your toilet bowl, or sprinkle it on your sponge to wipe down the sink. It can even help you revive the luster of your tarnished silver or well worn jewelry.
Breath freshener
Baking soda is used in some toothpastes because of its whitening and odor fighting properties. Rinsing with a baking soda solution can help freshen breath and reduce acidity in your mouth.

Laundry helper
